Description
Whole Medieval Dragon’s Blood Resin, the stuff of healing, magic, legends, culture, dragons and beauty. I ground this precious, deep red, extremely hard and dense blessings, then carefully infused in organic Avocado Oil & organic Olive Oil. Traditionally used for rashes, sores, wounds, diarrhea, dysentery, oral ulcers, to stop bleeding, eczema, GI issues, as an antiviral, and an anti-fungal mouthwash and in old Europe as a cure-all for serious conditions, a love-potion, and mouthwash. It’s still commonly also used as for rituals and ceremonies, and as ink, dye, pigment, and for the finish on famous Stradivari violins and for all the historical uses as well. A hidden powerful scent released when the resin is burned. Recent studies is anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory, and more effects are being studied.
When wounded, Dracaena Cinnabari, or the “Bleeding Trees” release this blood-red sap. The particular trees that bled for us to have this oil live on the Island of Socotra, the ONLY native location, an extremely awesome biodiverse place, where the land and people are governmentally controlled by Yemen. It’s off the horn of Africa in the junction of the Indian Ocean and the Red and Arabian Seas. Socotra was an important trade stop between India, the Middle East and the Mediterranean and is thought to be the original source of this resin traded along the route from Africa and Asia to the West. Recently, the people and land have suffered from war, geopolitics and just a few years ago, some serious natural disasters. In Socotra, the tree is used and respected for many purposes, including for much-needed shade, as medicine as mentioned above, and as paint and makeup. A combination of goats, humans, and environmental factors threaten this beautiful slow-growing gift that can live thousands of years. They are classified as vulnerable-to-extinction and a possible umbrella species so it’s uber-important we source responsibly and support conservation. They spark joy in me; seriously, go look at pictures and see if they do for you too.
